Flying Tomato

As soon as I spotted these ridiculously amazing palazzo pants on Halifax fashion blogger Libby from House of Winchester I needed to hunt them down and find out more. It turns out that the pants are from Flying Tomato and I want them in my life - along with everything else on their website. I also want to embed myself into the dreamy, carefree, bohemian lifestyle portrayed in their lookbook photos below.

Flying Tomato was founded in 2004 in the heart of the fashion district in Los Angeles. In their own words they "design, manufacture and distribute classic and feminine collection not to follow trends, but to set our own by showcasing an entirely new look with vintage inspired feel that our customers have grown to love." And love, I certainly do.

Gallery Walls

I would define my interior decorating (and really overall) style as juxtaposed: modern yet kitschy and definitely colourful. In the same way that I design jewellery and choose my outfits, I tend to gravitate towards mixed and layered colours and textures. I love things that are visually stimulating whereby you almost have to look twice in order to see the whole picture. Consequently I am almost obsessively drawn to gallery-style walls; the more space they cover and the more random the culmination of pieces the better.

Looking back, my first exposure to gallery-style walls (long before the world of Pinterest) was my Grandparents' home in Arizona. Between my Grandmother being a "professional-thrifter", painting as a hobby and their frequent travels around the globe, they had built an enviable collection of wall decor. From a randomly cohesive collection of art to vintage mirrors to photographs of grandchildren, frames took up every available wall space from floor to ceiling. The pieces were seemingly hung with organized haphazardness and emitted an unintentional sort-of charm - I was immediately inspired and have incorporated some sort of gallery-ness into my home decor ever since.

For further inspiration, here are some gallery walls that I would be totally content to just copy and paste into my own home:
