Neon Lights

The neon trend: I feel as though there is a very subtle line between looking current and looking as though you're ready for 80's night. To keep the look light and casual I love the idea of pairing a breezy all-white ensemble with a pop of neon here or there in the form of accessories and make-up.

And a couple of important key points, in my opinion:
a) keep the whites a little off though so you don't look like you escaped from an asylum - these jeans have a fine pinstripe;
b) make-up as in bright lips or nails paired with natural face - not bright blue or hot-pink eye shadow - hello 80's again.

Here are some fun pieces that I'm currently drawn to:

Flying Tomato

As soon as I spotted these ridiculously amazing palazzo pants on Halifax fashion blogger Libby from House of Winchester I needed to hunt them down and find out more. It turns out that the pants are from Flying Tomato and I want them in my life - along with everything else on their website. I also want to embed myself into the dreamy, carefree, bohemian lifestyle portrayed in their lookbook photos below.

Flying Tomato was founded in 2004 in the heart of the fashion district in Los Angeles. In their own words they "design, manufacture and distribute classic and feminine collection not to follow trends, but to set our own by showcasing an entirely new look with vintage inspired feel that our customers have grown to love." And love, I certainly do.

Nautical With a Twist

I love nautical inspired clothing and accessories, but I find that there is a very fine line between looking put-together and looking like you're trying way too hard like you belong on a sailboat. In order to stay away from the latter, I think it's best to stick to only one (maybe two if they're minimal) nautical inspired items per outfit. I think it also ups the chic ante to throw a bone into the mix with an unexpected item, like studded sneakers.

Here are three outfits I'm digging all based on the striped dress:
